授業概要 | Academic English 2 introduces academic writing skills in the first half of the course, and then the rudiments of study in literature. The semester is therefore divided into the Writing Unit and the Literature Unit. In the Writing Unit, students further their writing skills by writing a two-page essay, while improving their written fluency. In the Literature Unit, students read two short stories, complete vocabulary and grammar tasks, then perform interpretive tasks that require students to respond to the theme and conflicts in a story by writing a two-page essay. |
授業のねらい・到達目標 | 1) To be able to understand the information and opinions according to the purpose by reading a variety of genres/topics of English. These will include expository essays on linguistics concepts and literary works(A-3-1、A-6-1、A-7-1、A-8-1) 2) To be able to write English according to the purpose, contexts, and situations about a variety of topics, for example, dialects, benefits of technology and forced migration.(A-3-1、A-6-1、A-7-1、A-8-1) 3) To be able to perform integrated language activities. 授業の方法 | In the Writing Unit, students further their writing skills by writing a two-page essay, while improving their written fluency. In the Literature Unit, students read two short stories, complete vocabulary and grammar tasks, then perform interpretive tasks that require students to respond to the theme and conflicts in a story by writing a two-page essay. Students are supposed to spend 1 hour to complete preparation and homework on each class. Feedback will be provided in class or online when assignments are returned. For students who live abroad, far away from the campus, or permitted by CHS or departments they belong to, or permitted by class teachers, please complete assignments on Blackboard given each week. 事前に授業担当教員に許可された者については、代替措置として、Blackboard に配信する課題を提出する。そのほか詳しいことは状況に応じて別途指示する。 |

Complete assignments on Blackboard given each week. 対⾯授業に参加できない場合の条件を満たし遠隔で参加した場合、課題の提出によって評価する。 小テストや授業内試験を受けられない場合、Blackboardを介した課題提出によって評価する。期日については都度、Blackboardで告知する。 |
