| 授業の形態 | Asynchronous on-demand type with research assignments via Blackboard. Additionally, if the size of the class allows it (less than 30 students), occasional synchronous interactive classes of 45-50 mins via Zoom conducted at the class scheduled time. | 授業概要 | This course explores the modernization of Japanese society during the Taisho era through the prism of literature. By reading Tanizaki Junichiroʼs 1925 novel “Naomi”, we follow the changes that revolutionized the Japanese lifestyle in terms of gender roles, education, media, and leisure. | 授業のねらい・到達目標 | The aim of this course is to study the specificities of Japanese modernization as expressed by one of the greatest Japanese authors of the 20th century. Students should read and study the novel “Naomi” in English and analyze its main themes. They should achieve a general understanding of the ways Japanese urban life rapidly changed in the 1920s and its consequences for Japanese society to this day. この科目は文理学部のDP及びCP1に対応しています。この科目は文理学部のディプロマポリシーDP2, 3, 6, 及びカリキュラムポリシーCP2, 3, 6に対応している。(A-2-2, A-3-2, A-6-2). |
| 授業の方法 | 授業の形式：【講義】 Students learn to read literary and academic texts in English and communicate on the topic. Via Blackboard, students have access to reading materials and PowerPoint slides on-demand and need to submit short assignments every week (quizzes and short essays on the reading materials). Students need to attend the synchronous Zoom classes and participate in the live discussions. The final essay also needs to be submitted via Blackboard. Blackboardを通してオンデマンド教材を配信する(テキストとPowerPointスライド)。受講生はその教材を学修し、所定の方法で課題の解答やエッセイーを提供する。また、Zoomによる同時双方向型の授業に出席すること。 |
