授業概要 | The course is a continuation of the one that started in the spring term. The primary aim is to strengthen students’ communication ability. In addition to the skills of speaking in pairs, vocabulary and speech-making, students are introduced to basic paragraph writing. Class activities are conducted in a manner that helps connect the themes of the textbook with students’ daily environment. |
授業のねらい・到達目標 | Able to write short paragraphs; Able to initiate and hold conversation in English; Able to give structured speeches; Able to express personal views on daily topics of common interest (sport, fashion, celebrations); この科目は文理学部のDP及びCPの2, 3, 6 に対応している。 |
授業の方法 | Some of the individual units of the textbook are completed within two class sessions. Speaking activities are done in pairs or in small groups. Both the speech sessions and the short paragraph writing activities mirror the themes and the language patterns of the textbook. They are designed to reinforce the target skills that are being learned. Students spend a minimum of 60 minutes per week for preparation and homework. |
履修条件 | ①英語習熟度別クラス分けテストを受け、その結果により振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。 ②英語習熟度別クラス分けテスト未受験の者は、外国語教育センターで振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。振り分けられたクラス以外での履修はできません。 ③「英語1」(前期)と「英語2」(後期)は同一教員による同一時限のクラスを履修すること。 ④卒業に必要な外国語科目として「英語」を選択した場合、必ずこの科目を履修すること。 |

成績評価の方法及び基準 | レポート:Four written assignments(20%)、授業内テスト:End of term test(30%)、授業参画度:Active participation in pairs and group activities(10%)、Two speech practices and two progress review tests(40%) Report is measured by the four written assignments given on week 1, 2, 10 and 12. In-class examination is measured by a term-end exam in the 15th week of the semester. Participation is measured by three after-speech assignments given on week 3, 8 and 14. |
オフィスアワー | Given the unprecedented circumstances of Covid-19, the office hour will be online through Zoom, mainly Saturdays 12:30-12:55. Students are also welcomed to send an email anytime using the university Blackboard system. |
