| 授業の形態 | "For the Spring semester, this class will be online. We will use the Zoom video system to create a class as close to being in the classroom as possible. Classes will be held during our scheduled time. I will schedule a Zoom meeting which you will be invited to join each week. I will do my best to give you the same class content as usual although there may be some changes necessary. Teaching online is a new experience for me as it probably is for many of you too, so please feel free to offer suggestions and comments as we progress through the course. Let’s enjoy ourselves online!" |

| 授業概要 | The aim of the course is for you to build on your existing knowledge and increase your confidence so that you can express your opinions and talk about your ideas in English. The schedule may vary based on progress through the text books and student interests. |
| 授業のねらい・到達目標 | Throughout the course you should be able to increase your vocabulary, construct sentences to express your ideas, ask questions and respond to the opinions of others. Students are supposed to spend 1 hour to complete preparation and homework on each class, this may vary from week to week depending on the task. この科目は文理学部のDP及びCPの2, 3, 6 に対応している。 |
| 授業の方法 | The textbook, Communication Strategies has 15 units which cover vocabulary and language patterns for a variety of interesting and useful topics. Classes include reading, writing and listening with a focus on verbal communication. Other class materials will be available on Blackboard or Dropbox. In addition to the textbook, you would usually have the opportunity to work in groups to research and create your own presentations. I would very much like to keep this part of the course as it is an opportunity for you to use your own initiative and knowledge. If the Zoom video system works well we will go ahead, otherwise, we may spend more time using the textbook. For now, I will keep the ‘story telling’ project (weeks 8 to 11) in the syllabus. |
| 履修条件 | ①英語習熟度別クラス分けテストを受け、その結果により振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。 ②英語習熟度別クラス分けテスト未受験の者は、外国語教育センターで振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。振り分けられたクラス以外での履修はできません。 ③「英語1」（前期）と「英語2」（後期）は同一教員による同一時限のクラスを履修すること。 ④卒業に必要な外国語科目として「英語」を選択した場合、必ずこの科目を履修すること。 |
