授業概要	Developing competence in the skill areas of language learning these include listening, speaking reading, vocabulary and grammar.
授業のねらい・到達目標	Able to improve understanding of natural spoken English through pronunciation and intonation exercises. Longer conversation dialogs will also be used to brush up on listening comprehension and to concentrate on fluency.
授業の方法	Our materials consist of native speaker pronunciation in sentences in which particular sounds are the focus. The pronunciation exercises are followed by short, situational type conversations. We'll check these for comprehension then practice the dialogs in pairs until we have attained a basic level of fluency. Students are supposed to spend 1 hour to complete preparation and homework on each class.
履修条件	①英語習熟度別クラス分けテストを受け、その結果により振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。 ②英語習熟度別クラス分けテスト未受験の者は、外国語教育センターで振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。振り分けられたクラス以外での履修はできません。 ③「英語1」（前期）と「英語2」（後期）は同一教員による同一時限のクラスを履修すること。 ④卒業に必要な外国語科目として「英語」を選択した場合、必ずこの科目を履修すること。

授業計画
1	Course introduction and class procedures for both in-class and out-of-class (homework) requirements will be reviewed. Preparation: Check 'At a Part y1' .Review self- introduction questions. The first homework will be a vocabulary-building exercise.
2	Pronunciation exercise: 'a' and 'the' (part 1) Preparation: Check all 'Party 2' vocabulary Pair practice with self introduction handout. Situational dialog titled "At a Party (part 1)". Homework will be a grammar-manipulation-exercise.
3	Pronunciation exercise: 'a' and 'the' (part 2). Preparation: Check all 'Party 3' vocabulary, Review role play- 'Party 1'. Situational dialog titled "At a Party (part 2)". Homework will be a vocabulary-building exercise.
4	Pronunciation exercise: 'to'. Preparation: Check all 'Party 4' vocabulary, role play- 'Party 2'. Do role plays in pairs. Situational dialog titled "At a Party (part 3)". Homework will be a grammar-manipulation-exercise.
5	Pronunciation exercise: 'of'. Preparation: Check vocabulary, 'What Does Your Brother Do?' and role play- 'Party 2.' Do role plays in front of class. Situational dialog titled "At a Party (part 4)". Homework will be a vocabulary-building exercise.
6	Pronunciation exercise: Here, There, That question words. Preparation: Check 'Pachinko Parlor' vocabulary. Write out role play exchanges. Situational dialog titled "What does Your Brother Do?". Homework will be a grammar-manipulation-exercise.
7	Pronunciation exercise: 'would' contractions. Preparation: Check 'The Sale' vocabulary, Role Play- 'Party 3'. Pair role plays. Situational dialog titled "At a Pachinko Parlor". Homework will be a vocabulary-building exercise.
8	Pronunciation exercise: Contractions using 'not'. Preparation: Check 'The Dessert 'dialog sheet, Role Play- 'Brother Do?' Role play in front of class. Situational Dialog: 'The Sale'. Homework will be a grammar-manipulation-exercise.
9	Pronunciation exercise: Pronoun words with beginning 'h'. Preparation: Check all 'Mahjong' vocabulary, Role Play- 'Pachinko' Role Play in small groups. Situational dialog titled "Choose Your Dessert". Homework will be a vocabulary-building exercise.
10	Pronunciation exercise: --ing verb forms. Preparation: Check 'The Lucky Insect 'vocabulary, Role Play- 'Choose Desert' Write out role play exchanges. Situational dialog titled "Mahjong". Homework will be a grammar-manipulation-exercise.
11	Pronunciation exercise: going to, want to, have to. Preparation: Check all vocabulary 'I'm on a Diet', Role Play- 'Mahjong' Situational dialog titled "The Lucky Insect". Homework will be a vocabulary-building exercise.
12	Pronunciation exercise: 'be' in questions, present tense. Preparation: Check all 'Family' dialog vocabulary. Role Play- 'Lucky Insect from transcript. Situational dialog titled, 'I'm on a Diet.' Homework will be a grammar-manipulation-exercise.
13	Pronunciation exercise: 'be' in questions, past tense Preparation: Check all 'I have an Allergy' vocabulary, Role Play 'Diet' from transcript. Situational dialog 'The Family'. Homework: Answer questions about Families, in general.
14	Review materials covered first semester. Answer any questions about first semester. Do vocabulary and grammar review. Give an introduction to the final examination.
15	Brief exam overview and administer final examination which will test vocabulary, dictation, reading, and a short essay. Take the whole class time for exam. Collect any remaining homework assignments. Students need to prepare for the exam.

成績評価の方法及び基準	レポート(10%)、授業内テスト(50%)、授業参画度(20%)、Quizzes, mini-dialog/conversation presentations(20%) Students’ participation will be measured by attitude.
オフィスアワー	Fridays: 8:30 a.m. until first period class, in teacher's lounge. Fridays: Lunch hour in teacher's lounge.
備考	Sleeping in class and playing with cell phones is prohibited. Weekly homework is assigned. The homework is either vocabulary-building exercises or grammar-manipulation exercises. It will be collected, scored, and returned to the student the week after the assignment. Key difficulties with the week's homework will be discussed in the following class.
