授業概要	Reading a basic text of linguistics and writing a paragraph on each subject discussed in each chapter.
授業のねらい・到達目標	パラグラフライティングからエッセイライティングまで、正しい英文の書き方・スタイルを学ぶことができます。この科目は文理学部（学士（文学））のディプロマポリシーDP2,DP4,DP5及びカリキュラムポリシーCP5に対応しています。
授業の方法	Students are asked to read a very short article in each chapter, answer questions, and write a paragraph on a subject discussed in each chapter. For linguistic technical terms and theories, explanations are given in Japanese, which makes the study easier for students of non-linguistic major. Students are supposed to spend 1 hour to complete preparation and homework on each class.
履修条件	・同一教員・同一時限で前期と後期を対にして履修すること。・前期の初回授業時に受講希望者が定員を超過した場合、人数調整をするので、初回の授業に必ず出席すること。履修の許可を得た上で、履修登録をすること。
