授業テーマ	「生きた」英語によるコミュニケーション To enhance overall English communication skills.
授業のねらい・到達目標	「英語1」は、聞く・話すという、音声言語としてのコミュニケーション能力を培うことを目標としています。母国語習得過程を振り返っても十分理解できるように、言語は思ったり感じたりすることを話し、これを聞いて理解するものとして発達してきました。英語によく耳を傾け、おおよその内容を理解できるようになること、自分が相手に伝えようとすることを英語で即座に表現できること、そうしたコミュニケーション能力を高めていくことがこの授業のねらいです。 To learn new English vocabulary and practice language skills students already know.
授業の方法	In this year-long course, students will practice English language skills through paired, small group, and whole class discussions on a variety of topics.
履修条件	①英語習熟度別クラス分けテストを受け、その結果により振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。 ②英語習熟度別クラス分けテスト未受験の者は、外国語教育センターで振り分けられたクラスで履修すること。振り分けられたクラス以外での履修はできません。 ③後期は同一教員による同一時限の「英語2」を履修すること。 ④卒業に必要な外国語科目として「英語」を選択した場合、必ずこの科目を履修すること。

成績評価の方法及び基準	試験(40%)、平常点(20%)、授業内テスト(20%)、授業参画度(20%) To pass, students must 1) buy the textbook, 2) complete all assignments for homework or in-class activities & projects 3) use English when speaking to the teacher and during English speaking activities in class.
オフィスアワー	The instructor will be available for questions or advice before class (in the teachers' lounge) and after class in the classroom Mondays 8:30-12:10.
