授業テーマ	To help students gain fluency in basic conversational English, and work on public speaking skills.
授業のねらい・到達目標	This class is designed to increase students confidence in basic spoken English.
授業の方法	Students will talk about daily conversational topics in pairs or in small groups, and practice speaking before a group.
履修条件	・同一教員・同一時限で前期と後期を対にして履修すること。・後期のみの受講希望者も必ず「前期」の初回授業に参加し、履修の許可を得た上で、後期に履修登録すること。前期の初回授業時に受講希望者が定員を超過した場合、人数調整をする。・Only for students who are prepared to try to speak in English.
事前学修・事後学修，授業計画コメント	Students must bring a B-5 notebook and a good dictionary. Also, they will be expected to do some homework including preparing for speaking and vocabulary tests. A plastic folder is recommended to keep handouts in.

授業計画
1	Talking about summer vacation and build questioning skills. Inviting someone out over the telephone. Please get a B5 notebook.
2	Practice role play -Inviting someone out over the telephone, discuss locations, suggestions meetings places, and rescheduling. Text Unit 11 - Traveling Abroad. Prepare vocabulary words according to daily theme in B5 notebook.
3	Speaking test - On the telephone. Continue text Unit 11 - Traveling abroad. Prepare vocabulary words according to daily theme in B5 notebook.
4	Talking about destinations, dangers, sightseeing etc. Practice role play - At the Travel Agency.Prepare vocabulary words according to daily theme in B5 notebook.
5	Speaking test - At the travel Agency. Discuss researching about a location and presenting your material in interesting ways in a formal presentation.Prepare vocabulary words according to daily theme in B5 notebook.
6	Editing, talking about and practicing presenting your information about a holiday destination. Practice impromptu speaking skills.Prepare vocabulary words according to daily theme in B5 notebook.
7	Presentations on traveling abroad. Talking about signposting and practice using process language to give directions on how to do something. HW - bring a recipe. Prepare vocabulary words according to daily theme in B5 notebook.
8	Building a conversation using process language and practice role play - In the kitchen.Prepare vocabulary words according to daily theme in B5 notebook.
9	Speaking test - In the kitchen. Unit 5 - Finding the right job. Talk about employment and job hunting and helpful hints to be successful in a job interview. Questioning skills.Prepare vocabulary words according to daily theme in B5 notebook.
10	Building appropriate questions and how to answer questions - work on the grammar of the dialogue and practice the job interview role play.Prepare vocabulary words according to daily theme in B5 notebook.

その他
教科書	・前期の初回授業時に受講希望者が定員を超過した場合、人数調整をするので、履修の許可を得るまでは教科書を購入しないこと。 Handouts will be given to students for each class.
成績評価の方法及び基準	平常点(25%)、授業内テスト(25%)、Speaking tests(25%)、Vocabulary, Listening and Language usage(25%) Students who are frequently late or absent will not receive credit for this course. Nor will students who constantly speak in Japanese in class.
オフィスアワー	Thursdays before or after class in classroom.
備考	Please try not to be shy. The more you try to speak in English the better you will become. It is ok to make mistakes so don't worry.
