授業テーマ | The third semester continues academic writing skills in the first three weeks with paraphrasing, summarizing, and citing. |

授業のねらい・到達目標 | It continues with the main fields of the English department: linguistics and literature of four and five weeks, respectively. The semester is therefore again divided into the Writing Unit, the Linguistics Unit, and the Literature Unit. Finally, there will be individual oral presentations in the last class. |
授業の方法 | Writing Unit Students learn the basics of summarizing and paraphrasing, and in-text citations. Linguistics Unit Students read a passage on approaches to language teaching, and answer comprehension questions about the passage. They will also discuss relevant themes, carry out vocabulary and grammar exercises, and perform interpretive tasks. Literature Unit Students read two short stories, complete vocabulary and grammar tasks, then perform interpretive tasks that require students to respond to the theme and conflicts in a story by writing a three-page essay. |
