| 授業のねらい・到達目標 | This course aims to help students familiarize themselves with selected writing on Japan and Japanese culture and enable them to express their own opinions on characteristics of Japanese culture. | 
| 授業の方法 | This course will be conducted in the forms of lecture, presentation by students and discussions. The class will examine accounts by four authors: two prominent Japanese academics in the Meiji Era. an American scholar in the postwar era and a contemporary British journalist. |
