授業テーマ Getting to know better Japanese culture in English to facilitate intercultural communication
授業のねらい・到達目標 This course aims to help students familiarize themselves with selected writing on Japan and Japanese culture and enable them to express their own opinions on characteristics of Japanese culture.
授業の方法 This course will be conducted in the forms of lecture, presentation by students and discussions. The class will examine accounts by four authors: two prominent Japanese academics in the Meiji Era. an American scholar in the postwar era and a contemporary British journalist.
事前学修・事後学修,授業計画コメント As part of preparations, reading of parts of the text as designated by the lecturer is indispensable.
