授業テーマ	Surveying and appreciating short fiction by American women writers.
授業のねらい・到達目標	Students will become more familiar with and sensitive to the experiences and feelings of how three of American literature's most prominent female writers seek to represent the lives of people of color and diverse ethnic backgrounds. Students will also improve their abilities in reading, interpreting, and criticizing literary texts, giving presentations, and essay writing.
授業の方法	Students will read 20-40 pages per week, or one short story per week in the case of Lahiri’s Interpreter of Maladies. As with the Spring Semester, students will take turns as discussion leaders of small groups. Group discussions will focus on the language, themes, and issues that are key to the texts. There will also be occasional short lectures, whole-class discussions, and quizzes that will help students recall the stories.
