授業テーマ This course will focus on the global environmental issues from the perspective of the policy science.
授業のねらい・到達目標 The purpose of this course is to understand the global environmental issues (especially global warming and climate change) by taking the case studies from international negotiations and environmental policies in Japan. This course also focuses on the enhancement of student's capacity for the international perspective so that the student could play an important role in the global environmental area.
授業の方法 This course will be performed in a style of lecture. The text and presentation material will be distributed to all the students at each class. The discussions, presentation and case studies among students also will be included in this course.

1 General guidance -Introduction of "The Earth and the Environment"-
2 What is global environmental issues?
3 Global Warming and Climate Change
4 Role of energy in climate change
5 Deforestation and its effect on global warming
6 Assessment of climate change mitigation strategies
7 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Kyoto Protocol
8 Climate change policy: Japan
9 Climate change policy: Asia
10 Climate change policy: EU
11 Voluntary actions to address the climate change by industry and civil society
12 Case study (1): Identification of greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions from the household
13 Case study (2): Identification of greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions from the campus

オフィスアワー The office hour will be open for 30 minutes at the lecture room after each class. All the students can ask for an instruction and consultation by email. The email address will be notified in the first class.
