授業テーマ A continuation of the first semester with emphasis on practical examples of dialects.
授業のねらい・到達目標 This semester focuses on the study and analysis of English dialects around the world. Human language is constantly changing, which causes languages to become different. In this semester, we will analyze a number of dialects and write down what we discover about them. A special section on Scots and Scottish Gaelic will be given
授業の方法 The aim of the course is to give the students real language examples of present day English social and geographical dialects. A secondary goal is to observe how several Indo-European language systems function phonologically, morphologically and grammatically.

参考書 There is no text for the course. We will rely on handouts and taking notes in class. Whenever you need to know something you can consult the English Department Library; online resources and so on.
成績評価の方法及び基準 試験(50%)、レポート(25%)、Online Exercises and Group Projects (25%)
Handouts and notes that the students take in class will replace the textbook. In addition, all students should be able to access school's internet (Blackboard 9) in order to use online resources.

備考 Students who are frequently absent or continually late may not receive credit for the course.
