授業テーマ Consolidating and enhancing writing abilities in different rhetorical situations.
授業のねらい・到達目標 This semester’s class will give students a chance to review and consolidate skills learned in the first semester, and apply them in different essay formats. The final project will be a step-by-step research essay, a project designed to model the process involved in writing a graduation thesis.
授業の方法 As with the first semester, there will be lots of in-class writing, discussion and guidance from the teacher, along with extensive homework. After practicing the expository essay, we will study the vital matters of research and citation, then move on to practice argumentative and comparative essays. The final essay will require students to apply all the skills they have learned throughout the entire year to produce a proper, university-level research essay on an academic subject.
